• I began by going through my stuff and determining what to give, keep, and throw away. This meant less packing, and more decluttering.

• After this, I began with decorative pieces, books, and out-of-season clothing, wrapping each item carefully and placing them in labeled boxes.

• Followed by using wardrobe boxes for hanging garments and packing folded clothes in suitcases or medium-sized boxes.

• To prevent damage, I made sure my shoes were clean and placed them in different boxes.

• For extra protection, I placed bubble wrap over lamps, picture frames, and other delicate items.

• Now I disassembled my bedroom furniture which includes my bed, and a small study table. I then placed the hardware in labeled plastic bags. My 2 important pieces of advice regarding this step are as follows;

1. To prevent scratches and cracks, carefully cover furniture surfaces with paper, shrink wrap, or bubble wrap. Use blankets for heavier parts during transit.

2. If at all feasible, secure furniture legs to the chair, desk, or table they are a part of by wrapping them in bubble wrap or leg covers.

• Each box was labeled with its contents to make unpacking easier.
