Hi folks. Almost 7 months ago, I had to remodel my bathroom and kitchen space. I planned to go with FRP or Fiberglass Reinforced Panels over plywood because I heard it’s durable, water-resistant, and easy to clean. But I was unsure how to install FRP on plywood. So, I hired the renovation contractor and observed the process he followed to install the FRP panel. I have shared those process below.

How can You Install FRP on Plywood?

  1. Clean the plywood, and if necessary, fill in any gaps with filler.

  2. Next, remove dust from the board using a damp cloth.

  3. By dividing the wall's length by its breadth, you may determine the area in inches.

  4. Now, divide the area of the wall by the width of the top cap, inside dividers, corner dividers, and your RFP panel.

  5. Use a fine-tooth saw to mark and cut FRP sheets.

  6. Now, leave a tiny expansion gap between panels and at the edges.

  7. Apply FRP adhesive on the plywood with a V-notch trowel.

  8. Carefully place the FRP sheet and firmly press it onto the plywood. To eliminate bubbles and guarantee complete bonding, you can use a roller from the center outward.

  9. Use FRP moldings and finish the edges.

  10. After that, use silicone caulk to seal joints and edges.

  11. Finally, let the adhesive dry for at least 24 to 48 hours. The drying time may vary as directed by the package.

I hope you found these steps helpful.
