Summary
To install a ductless AC on an interior wall, choose a high, level spot and secure the mounting bracket. Drill holes for refrigerant lines, drain, and wiring. Connect and insulate copper lines, drain pipe, and electrical cables carefully. Pressure-test for leaks, vacuum the system, and release refrigerant. Mount the indoor unit, cover connections, restore power, and test cooling using the remote.

To install a ductless air conditioner on an interior wall,

  1. First, choose the spot on the wall where the indoor unit will go. Make sure it is high enough to spread cool air evenly. Use a level to mark the bracket positions on the wall.

  2. Drill holes for the screws and a larger hole for the refrigerant lines, drain line, and electrical wires. Drill from the outside if needed to avoid damaging the wall finish. Attach the mounting bracket to the wall using masonry screws. Make sure it is secure and level.

  3. Next, prepare the lines. Extend the drain line with a piece of PVC pipe and secure it with tape or clamps. Carefully extend the copper refrigerant lines to the outdoor unit.

  4. Avoid kinking the copper lines. Use flaring nuts and a flaring tool to connect the lines to the indoor unit. Hand-tighten them first, then snug them up later.

  5. Insulate both refrigerant lines, as one carries cold refrigerant and the other warm refrigerant. Run the electrical wire between the indoor and outdoor units. Protect high-voltage wiring using weatherproof conduit to avoid moisture and UV damage.

  6. Test the system by pressurizing the lines with nitrogen to check for leaks. Remove the nitrogen using a vacuum. The outdoor unit usually comes pre-charged with refrigerant. Open the valves to release the refrigerant into the system.

  7. Finally, attach the indoor unit to the mounting bracket. Slide the line cover and faceplate over the connections. Clean or replace the air filters as needed. Turn on the power and test the system with the remote. Adjust the settings to cool the room.

This simple method installs a ductless AC unit safely and efficiently on an interior wall, with the unit ready to cool the space.
