Hey,

Ever since I was young, I wanted a cheval standing mirror in my room. Very specifically, the mirror had to be rectangular with a sleek black finish. There are many advantages to owning a mirror like this. The frame can be angled by tilting it, it increases the attractiveness of the room, etc.

Facts :

  • Black cheval mirror was produced in Paris in the 19th century for the first time. Making the mirror antique, and full of history. The mirror was famous among aristocratic families because it doesn't bend or distort your image. 

  • Cheval dressing mirror are also known as horse dressing glass or psyche, tall dressing mirrors. The shape of the mirror is usually rectangular and tall. 

  • The mirror is usually supported by horizontal bars and two pillars. The pillars/legs provide the structure extra support and ensure the mirror doesn't fall and break.

 How to install cheval mirror hardware?

  • Figure out screw placement on the back of the mirror. 

  • Drill a 3/8" hole on each side of the mirror frame 

  • Then, drill a 9/32" hole, at the hanging location 

  • Put the steel stem through the spacer 

  • Further, insert the stem into the insert-bushing portion of the mirror back. 

  • Lastly, screw the stem into the mirror.

Pro tip :

Before hanging the mirror, do check whether all the screws are tightly screwed in or not. 

You can clean the mirror with stabiliser film and epoxy resin.
