Summary
Mini split AC installation involves choosing the right capacity for room size, mounting the indoor unit 7–8 ft high, drilling a sloped hole for pipes, placing the outdoor unit with airflow, connecting refrigerant lines and drain, vacuuming for leaks, and testing cooling. Professional setup ensures safety and efficiency.

Here’s how to install a mini split AC system;

  1. Select the right mini split AC according to the room dimensions. A 1 ton unit is appropriate for areas up to 120 sq ft, a 1.5 ton unit accommodates 120 to 180 sq ft, and a 2 ton unit is suitable for bigger spaces. Choosing the appropriate capacity guarantees effective cooling and avoids overloading.

  2. Install the indoor unit on a sturdy wall, 7 to 8 feet from the ground. Make sure that air flows freely throughout the room and refrain from positioning it directly over beds or sofas.

  3. Secure the mounting plate by properly fastening it with wall plugs and screws. Use a bubble level to ensure it is entirely aligned. An inclined surface may lead to ineffective drainage and water seepage.

  4. Drill a 2.5 to 3 inch hole with an angle sloping towards the exterior. This opening contains refrigerant lines, electrical cables, and the drainage pipe. The incline aids in the smooth drainage of water condensation.

  5. Position the outdoor condenser on a level area, balcony flooring, or wall mounting bracket. Make sure there is adequate airflow and avoid exposing it to direct sunlight and rain whenever possible. Ensure adequate space for heat release.

  6. Link copper refrigerant pipes between indoor and outdoor units. Secure flare nuts correctly and insulate the pipes to prevent energy loss. Link the connecting wires according to the wiring schematic.

  7. Attach the drain pipe firmly and make sure there is a consistent downward incline. This stops water from backflowing and leaking within the room.

  8. Use a vacuum pump to extract air and humidity from the system. Conduct a pressure and leak test to confirm there are no refrigerant leaks.

  9. Switch on the mini split AC and check cooling performance, airflow, noise, and drainage. Ensure stable operation before regular use.

Professional installation is recommended to ensure safe electrical connections, correct gas charging, and long-term performance of your mini split AC system.
