Steps to Install a Glass Shower Door
Measure the distance between the walls where the bottom track has to be installed. Typically, the length of the track has to be about a ¼“ less than the actual distance between every wall, to allow room for the hardware. But check the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Mark this distance on the bottom track and take a hacksaw to trim it to length.
Take a metal file to remove burrs and rough edges where you used the saw.
Keep the bottom track in position, right in the center of the ledge. Take masking tape to temporarily hold it in place.
Make a mark with a pencil along the edge of the track and on each end, so you will be able to align it later on.
After this, prepare the wall jambs and use a level to ensure proper installation. Take masking tape to hold one jamb in place.
Mark the screw holes on the wall with a pencil and repeat the same process with the other door jamb.
Next, remove the taped wall jambs and drill holes where you made the markings. Use the correct size of drill. Insert the wall anchor hardware provided into every hole you drilled.
Install the door jambs and secure them to the anchors with the given hardware. Take a screwdriver to tighten the screws.
Remove the taped bottom tracks and lay a bead of silicone caulk on the underside.
Replace the bottom track and line it up with the marks you made before. Install all the hardware.
Measure the distance between both walls at the top of the door frame. Reduce the distance from this measurement to give room for hardware.
Mark this measurement on the top track and cut it with a hacksaw. File the rough edges where you cut the track.
Install the top track over the wall jambs with the correct side facing out and use the hardware to secure it.
Assemble and install the doors.
