Here’s how to install a ceiling fan with attic access,

  1. Switch off the electricity at the main circuit breaker. Verify with a voltage tester.

  2. Take down the old light fixture and carefully detach the wires.

  3. Check the electrical box. If it’s not fan-rated, replace it. Ceiling fans need a UL-listed fan-rated box.

  4. Attach a fan-rated bracket or support directly to a joist within the attic. This stops wobbling and sustains the fan’s weight.

  5. Run the cable (if needed) from the switch to the fan box through the attic. Secure it with staples and follow safe spacing.

  6. Attach the fan mounting bracket firmly to the fan-rated box.

  7. Connect the wiring: Black = fan motor (hot), Blue = light kit (hot), White = neutral, and Green/bare = ground.

  8. Assemble and hang the fan on the bracket.

  9. Attach blades and light kit according to the instructions.

  10. Turn power on and test the fan's speed, direction.

Installing a ceiling fan with attic access is easier because you can safely reach the joists, wiring, and ceiling box from above. I hope this helps!
