I recently hung a pot rack from the ceiling in my kitchen to alleviate storage issues, so I can give you some really good hanging pot rack tips. I suggest you hang racks from ceiling joists that are horizontal supports that the ceiling is fixed to. Here’s how to hang a pot rack:

Before buying a pot rack, get a measuring tape and measure the space where you want to hang the rack. Check how much space you can use and choose a pot rack that’ll fit well within that space.
After that, you will have to find ceiling joists (horizontal supporting members above the ceiling). You will need to install screws to secure the pot rack into the ceiling joists. You can use a stud finder to find ceiling joists. Run your stud finder along with the ceiling until you find at least 2 ceiling joists.
After locating the ceiling joists, mark their location. You can use a masking tape or a pencil for this purpose.
Now, take the pot rack out of its box and keep it on top of the cardboard. Please ensure the cardboard piece is large enough to fit the whole rack.
Next, make your rack’s template on the cardboard. You’ll be using this template as a guide to drill holes in your ceiling. Trace the rack’s outline using a pencil. Mark where the rack hooks are situated on the cardboard. Use a sharp object, like a pair of scissors or a knife for making a small hole where you will hang each chain.
Keep the cardboard against the ceiling and mark the place you will make holes. Take the template of your cardboard and keep it against the ceiling. Line the template up on the ceiling in a way that each hole falls on a ceiling joist. Mark where you will drill using a pencil.
Drill the holes using a drill machine
After drilling the holes, attach the chains to the hooks and then attach the pot rack to the chains.
