If you follow some steps diligently, you can plant a neem tree at home. Here is what you need to take care of-

Select a pot that is at least 12 inches in diameter and has drainage holes at the bottom. Neem plants have a deep root system, so a deeper pot is preferable.

Use good quality soil to give your neem plant a healthy life. You can create a mix by combining equal parts of garden soil, compost, and sand. This mix ensures good drainage and aeration for the neem plant.

Next, place the neem sapling in the centre of the pot, ensuring that the root ball is covered with the potting mix. The sapling should be at the same depth as it was in its previous container.

After planting, water the neem sapling thoroughly until water drains out of the bottom of the pot. This helps settle the soil around the roots and remove any air pockets.

Neem plants require full sunlight to grow well, so place the pot in a location where it will receive 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day. If you don't have access to direct sunlight, you can use artificial grow lights to supplement the light requirements.

Neem plants are drought-tolerant but still require regular watering. Water the plant when the top inch of the soil feels dry. Also, do not overwater the plant. It can lead to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

Neem plants don't require frequent fertilisation, but you can provide a balanced organic fertiliser once every 2-3 months during the growing season. Follow the instructions on the fertiliser packaging for the correct dosage.

Neem plants can be pruned to maintain their shape and promote bushier growth. Prune any dead or diseased branches and trim the plant to the desired height or shape.

Neem plants are relatively resistant to pests and diseases. However, monitor the plant for any signs of infestation or disease. Treat any issues promptly using organic insecticides or remedies.
