I love having my own little patch of green in the front of my home. I don’t think there’s anything better than looking out my front door and seeing lush, green grass. Let me tell you that you do not have to be a landscape artist to have a perfect lawn. Read below to know how to grow grass in garden.

How to Grow Lawn Grass Start the Process

Demarcate your lawn’s area and dig out the soil; about 9-10 inches deep. Turn the soil over carefully, break all the hard soil, and remove the lumps and rocks. After that, put ready-mix garden soil and manure. You’ll require a minimum of fifteen bags for a lawn of about 500 square feet. Mix this soil properly and break any lumps that appear so that the soil feels soft. Water the area and allow it to soak.

Prepare the Soil

After some days, turn the soil again and remove any growth or weed. Now, add neem cake powder and 3-4 bags of compost to de-weed the soil. Water the area for 7 days again. Make sure that the soil is soaked properly.

Some unwanted growth may start appearing on the soil after that. Now, you don’t need to water the area anymore. Remove any extraneous growth that may appear from your green patch. Turn the soil again and water it for 3 more days. Do this for 3-4 weeks, until the new soil is ready for planting.

Lay the Lawn

Australian grass or Bermuda grass is usually the most suitable grass for a home garden. If you want to plant the lawn n undulated areas or for visibility, then you can go for Korean grass as it grows in clumps.

If you plan to go for Bermuda grass, just buy a bag from your nursery for a 1,00 square feet area. Now spread it evenly on the prepared area and water it. This type of grass takes root quickly and easily and your land will start turning green in approximately 2 weeks.

Keep watering the lawn so that it stays green. The water should go down a couple of inches deep. You should water the lawn daily but don’t make the area too wet or you’ll have decaying grass. It will take around 3 months for your lawn to be perfect.
