BDA stands for Bangalore Development Authority. A BDA flat is thus nothing but a flat that abides by all the rules and regulations of construction. It is great to have a BDA flat, as it means that the flat is legally verified as well as government approved. You can gift this flat to anyone by drafting a gift deed. A BDA flat can be sold only after 10 years from its purchase. So make sure before gifting it that it has been in your possession for 10 years or more.

A gift deed is nothing but an agreement that contains details like

  • Name of the donors

  • Address of the donors

  • Date and place of execution

  • Witnesses and more

You then need to get it registered at the registrar’s or sub-registrar’s office. This is the basic process. But yes, do not perform these tasks without the aid of a legal expert. Hire an expert and get your Gift deed drafted legally.
