Lingayat is not a caste; it is a religion. Hence, you must apply for a caste certificate based on your caste, not your religion. In an effort to improve their portion of the reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC), the Karnataka government classified Lingayats as "moderately backward" from the "backward" category.
How to obtain Caste Certificate online?
Visit your state's official backward class welfare website.
Visit the "Apply for Caste Certificate Online" link to submit an application for a caste certificate online.
Either register for a new account on the website or apply for a job directly online.
Once you've registered, go to the portal and enter your username and password to log in.
Your address, phone number, personal information, and local reference details must be entered into the online form.
Verify all the data you provided in the online form, and then, if you accept the terms and conditions, click the submit button.
You must choose the type of document you are uploading for proof once you submit.
Upload the necessary files, then click "submit" to continue.
You'll get an acknowledgment slip with your application number once you've submitted your application.
The acknowledgment form can be printed or saved to your computer. Simply in case, you want to check on the status of your application, save the application number as well.
After finishing the verification, you can immediately download the certificate from the portal.
You might also get an email or SMS message when the procedure is finished.
