You must know that TAN is required by every individual as Tax Collected at Source (TCS) or Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) returns are not accepted by TIN facilitation centers without it. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to get TAN number. I will explain the simple process in this answer.
How to Apply for TAN NumberGo to the official NSDL website
Under the ‘Services’ dropdown, choose ‘TAN’
Tap on ‘Apply Online’
Choose ‘New TAN’
Next, select from the list ‘category of deductors’ and tap on ‘Select’
After that, you will have to fill and submit the Form 49B form
An acknowledgment screen will appear which includes:
A 14-digit acknowledgment number
Name of the applicant
Status of the applicant
Payment details
Contact details
Space of signature
You are required to save and print out the acknowledgment as you will have to send it along with other documents to Protean eGov Technologies Limited at –
