Hello there. I can help you understand how to get rid of shiny spots on painted walls. We noticed the same shiny spots on our walls after painting them last month. The look of the wall was getting affected and I looked up how to fix this and found a solution for it. Let me tell you what I did to remove the shiny spots from the painted wall.

How to Remove Shiny Spots on Painted Walls?

Here is how you can remove shiny spots:

  1. First, you must determine the cause for these shiny spots, whether it is cleaning, rubbing or a difference in the paint application or maybe sheen. This will help you to work in a better manner and focus on the particular area.

  2. You can then use a fine-grit sandpaper to sand the shiny spot gently. Ensure you don’t remove too much paint.

  3. Once you are done sanding, clean the region to remove dust.

  4. If you notice that the sanded region exposes bare wall, apply primer before you repaint to ensure proper adhesion.

  5. After this, apply a fresh coat of paint to the sanded region and blend it in with the surrounding paint.

  6. With a dry paint brush, lightly dip the tip in paint and stipple, i.e. fill the region with tiny dots to create a blended and textured look.

This is all you need to do. I hope you will now be able to fix the shiny spots on your wall.
