With the death of the owner, instead of surrendering the electricity connection you can change the name on the electricity bill.
The electricity provider should be informed regarding the name change proposal as soon as possible.
After that, you can ask them to modify the name on the electricity bill.
They could ask you for specific documentation to verify the identification of the deceased and the person whose name the power bill has to be changed. Keep all the necessary paperwork on hand. Along with other pertinent paperwork, they could also request the owner's death certificate.
The electricity provider will update the new name on the bill once the documents have been validated.
