What if I told you that you can get a discount on property tax in Pune? Well, recently, while discussing the new tax slabs with a colleague of mine, he told me that I could get a 40% rebate on property tax for self-occupied homes. He said to be eligible for this, my home must be registered as a self-occupied residential property with the PMC. If you, too, want to know how to get discount on property tax Pune, then read along.
What is the Eligibility Criteria for PMC Tax Discount?
Apart from what has been mentioned, he also told me about a few other details as well. I have added those below.
Properties registered after April 1, 2018, must submit a PT-3 form to be eligible for the discount.
Any property registered before April 1, 2019, is automatically eligible.
Properties registered after April 1, 2019, need to provide documentation proving self-occupancy for the discount.
He also said that this discount doesn’t apply to residential properties that have been rented out. Here are the steps that can be followed to avail of this discount.
Get an NOC from your housing society saying that the property is self-occupied.
Next, you need to fill out the PMC form PT-3 from the
PMC website.
Submit the PT-3 form with the required documents to the nearest PMC ward office, along with a fee of Rs. 25.
And that’s about it. This is how you can get a discount on Pune Property Tax. I hope this helps.
