Make sure you have some things with you to repair the fan like
A tall tool or ladder
Voltage tester
Wire stripper
Screw drier
Pull chain kut
Electrical wire nuts

Open the ceiling fan base
Unscrew the metal collar through which the fan chain extends

Cut 3/4th of the wire and leave about 2 inches to reattach a new pull chain switch
Attach the new ceiling fan chain pull switch as per the new switch’s kit instructions
Twist the wire and top each of them with a plastic wire nut
Press the pull chain back into the ceiling fan base
Tighten the collar by hand and reassemble the fan entirely
