A visible hole was left in my acrylic bathtub floor a few months ago when a heavy metal bucket slipped and struck it. I considered fixing it myself at first, but I soon realised that fixing a big hole would take skill and materials I didn't have. So how to fix large hole in bathtub? I made the proper choice of hiring a professional instead, especially since tub repairs have an impact on both watertightness and looks. This is definitely not a DIY task.
How to Repair Large Hole in Bathtub?
The usual steps that the professional followed in repairing the big hole in my bathtub are:
To smooth the edges and promote proper adhesion of the repair materials, the damaged area was sanded.
To give larger holes structural support, a fiberglass mesh was positioned over the opening.
The mesh was embedded in the hole by applying premium epoxy. A putty knife was used to shape it, and it was then allowed to cure.
The patch was sanded smooth to blend in with the surrounding surface after it had dried.
A paint was applied at the end to blend the repair seamlessly with the rest of the tub.
When done professionally, the result was durable and visually flawless.
