The reason your drawer slides may get out of track and wobbly is because of excessive friction or loose screws. Last month, we repaired our kitchen drawer by tightening the loose screws on the slides and lubricating the tracks a little, to avoid friction. You may need to sand the surface if you see any rough spots causing the misalignment. Let me tell you how to fix kitchen drawer slides at home.

How to Repair Kitchen Drawer Slides?

Since our problem was minor, we could fix it at home. If you face any difficulties while repairing your drawers, consider getting a professional carpenter. Here’s what we did to fix our sliding drawers.

  1. First, I cleaned the drawer tracks using a damp cloth. Then, my husband removed the drawer and with the help of a vacuum cleaner, I cleaned all the large debris and heavy dust. Sometimes, the drawer can get stuck due to accumulated dust and cleaning them will make it smoother.

  2. After cleaning, we lubricated the drawer tracks. As I mentioned above, because of excessive friction, drawers get stuck and don’t slide easily. So, to fix that, try applying lubricant on the surface.

  3. There was still a slight issue with our drawers. So, my husband checked whether all the screws were tight. He gently pushed the slides up and down to inspect the screws, after which he tightened them using a screwdriver.

So, this is how we fixed our kitchen drawer slides. If the methods above don’t work, you may need to replace the slides. I remember my cousin mentioning how they had to replace the drawers completely during their kitchen renovation, as it was stuck and none of the DIY methods worked. So, if you’re in a similar situation, I’d suggest hiring professionals.
