Hey. I can tell you how to fix gouge in wood floor. See, the process of fixing a gouge varies based on whether the gouge is a minor one or deeper. So that has to be assessed first. Fixing a deeper gouge takes a lot more effort and materials. I will share how you can fix both minor and deep gouges on a wooden floor below.

How to Fix Gouged Wood Floors?

  1. First, assess the extent of damage. See if it is a minor or a deep gouge.

  2. Also, check the location of the gouge as ones on high traffic areas need more durable repairs compared to gouges on hidden corners.

  3. Use a vacuum or soft brush to get rid of dust and debris from the gouge. Clean the surrounding area too.

  4. Take painter’s tape to tape off the area around the gouge.

  5. If the gouge is minor, use a wax stick to fill the gouge. Rub it over the gouge until it is filled. Buff with a soft cloth to get rid of excess wax and blend it with the floor.

  6. If the gouge is slightly deeper, apply wood putty with a spatula and fill the gouge. Remove any excess around the edges.

  7. Once the putty is dry, lightly sand it to make it even with the floor.

  8. Apply a stain that matches your floor. Take a fine brush or stain pen for precision. test on a small area first to ensure it matches.

  9. Apply a thin coat of compatible finish.

  10. Once the finish has dried, buff the area with a soft cloth.

This is all. I hope this helps.
