How to Fix Peeling Paint on Door?
Start by scraping away the loose paint edges. Use a paint scraper or a 5 in 1 tool for this purpose. Stop when it becomes difficult to scrape the paint.
Use a wire brush, sweep away any remaining particles. If you see more paint peeling, use the scraper again.
Apply your wood or latex putty using a putty knife. Spread a flat, thin layer on the damaged region. Ensure that the putty is stretched a little ahead of the perimeter of the damaged region.
Let the putty dry for about 45 minutes to an hour. The point is to give the putty enough time to dry completely.
Use a sander and smoothen the damaged surface. You have to sand till it smoothes out along with the surrounding paint.
Feel the surface with your bare hand to check for smoothness. The area should flow smoothly with the rest of the door.
Apply the primer to the complete surface and let it dry. You can then paint the door.
