A month ago, I noticed my bathtub was unclean, and the water was stuck. Also, it would not drain properly. So, to fix it, I researched how do you fix a slow draining bathtub. I found out about the baking soda and vinegar solution method. This fixing process took only 5 to 10 minutes. I added the detailed steps I came across to fix the slow-draining bathtub.

How Do You Fix a Slow Bathtub Drain?

Here were the step-by-step methods I came across and used to clean the slow bathtub drain.

  1. I started by taking out the standing water from the bathtub using a small container. It took a bit of time, but I managed to get most of it out.

  2. Then, I poured about one and a half cups of baking soda straight into the drain.

  3. Right after that, I added the same amount of white vinegar. The reaction was instant; it fizzed up nicely.

  4. To keep the reaction contained, I covered the drain with a wet cloth and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.

  5. After the wait, I flushed the drain with hot water to clean loosened debris.

This baking soda and vinegar method worked. My bathtub drains normally now, and I hope you understand how to fix a slow running bathtub drain.

I recently faced the annoying issue of a slow-draining bathtub, and I figured I’d share how I solved it. I came across the easiest way on how to fix a slow draining bathtub. I tried doing it myself by using a plunger and boiling water and it worked pretty well. I have shared a detailed process I found to fix a slow bathtub drain.

How Do You Fix a Slow Draining Bathtub?

I have followed the below steps to fix a slow draining bathtub:

  • Firstly, I removed the drain stopper. It was a bit tricky, but once I got it off, I found it was clogged with hair and soap scum. I cleaned it thoroughly, scrubbing away all the gunk. To my surprise, this simple step made a big difference.

  • Next, I took a look down the drain itself. I could see some debris stuck further down. I used a small hook, which I had from an old tool kit, to remove the hair and other stuff. If you don’t have a hook, you can also use a drain snake, which is a handy tool for this kind of job.

  • The drain was still a bit slow, so I decided to use a plunger. I filled the bathtub with just enough water to cover the plunger’s cup and started plunging away. After a few minutes, I could feel the suction working, and the water started to drain faster. To give it a final boost, I boiled a kettle of water and poured it down the drain. This step helped break down any remaining soap scum and grease.

  • Finally, I added a drain cover to catch any future hair and debris. It’s been smooth sailing ever since.

If you have a slow-draining bathtub, these steps should help you get it back to normal. I hope you get an idea of how to fix slow draining tub.
