How to Fit Switch Box Easily?
I found that following the below approach helps avoid mistakes and ensures safety. Here’s how you can do it:
Start by running the cables. You must staple the cable every 4 to 5 feet. However, try to keep them straight, without loops or twists. This makes pulling the wires through the box easier and safer.
Untwist and labeled the cable. This small step makes things much easier when you connect them to the switches. Labeling helps a lot, especially when there are multiple switches involved.
Pull out the cables into the box. You can use the plastic box to secure the wires.
Once the cables are in the box, ensure they are all neat. Staple them in place, keeping them not over 8 inches from the box.
You can use a utility knife to remove the insulation from the ends of the wires. Try to leave about 2 inches of exposed wire for easier connection.
Connect the white (neutral) wires. You can twist them together with a wire nut.
Now, connect the ground wires, twisting them together and securing them with a wire nut.
Finally, you can connect the black (hot) wires to the terminals of the switch. This step is crucial, as the hot wires carry the electrical current.
After everything is connected, carefully fold the wires back into the box, making sure they wouldn’t be damaged.
