Recently, my old countertop basin sink started to leak. So, I decided to install a new basin sink in my kitchen and hired a plumber. He took accurate measurements, then turned off the water supply and removed the old sink. I carefully watched the process to learn how to fit a countertop basin sink, which I have shared here for your reference.
How to Fit a Counter Top Basin?
The plumber first measured the height for the new basin, usually between 29 to 36 inches from the floor. He checked the space on the countertop and made sure there was enough room for the tap and basin.
He turned off the water valves under the sink and opened the taps to drain leftover water.
Then, he carefully disconnected the water pipes and the drain pipe.
After that, he unscrewed the old sink and removed it by loosening the seal around it.
Before placing the new basin, he fixed the new tap in the right position, making sure the water spot would fall correctly into the basin.
He put the basin on the countertop and sealed the edges with silicone to stop any water leaks. Sometimes, a rubber gasket is used instead of sealant.
Next, he reattached the drain pipes and water supply lines tightly, using his tools.
Applied extra sealant around the basin and drain to prevent leaks, then wiped off the extra.
After waiting for the seal to dry, he turned on the water and checked carefully for any leaks from the taps or pipes.
I hope this helps!
