Summary
Begin by connecting the manifold gauge set to the AC unit’s service ports. Then, connect the vacuum pump to the manifold gauge to set and run it for at least 30 minutes. Check the system for leaks using the leak detector. Slowly open the valve on the refrigerant cylinder and begin filling the AC with the right amount of refrigerant and also check the pressure levels on the manifold gauge. Once you have added the correct amount of refrigerant, close the valve on the refrigerant cylinder and disconnect the manifold gauge. Switch on the AC and check its working.

Let me tell you how to fill AC gas at home.

  1. Begin by connecting the manifold gauge set to the AC unit’s service ports, making sure you have the correct hoses connected to the high and low pressure ports.

  2. If needed, use the refrigerant recovery machine to remove any old refrigerant from the system.

  3. Then, connect the vacuum pump to the manifold gauge to set and run it for at least 30 minutes to get rid of any moisture and air.

  4. Check the system for leaks using the leak detector. Keep the refrigerant cylinder on the refrigerant scale and tare the scale to zero.

  5. Slowly open the valve on the refrigerant cylinder and begin filling the AC with the right amount of refrigerant. Check the pressure levels on the manifold gauge set to make sure they are within the specified range.

  6. Once you have added the correct amount of refrigerant, close the valve on the refrigerant cylinder and disconnect the manifold gauge set from the AC unit.

  7. Switch on the AC and check its working. If everything is working correctly, your AC should be cooling well.

So, this is the complete process you can follow. However, I would say you should always have an expert like a technician handle gas filling because this is a tricky thing to do without any knowledge and can be harmful.
