Hello Disha. I know how to file RTI against the builder. I did so to gather information about a builder in Bangalore. So, I will guide you through the method for Karnataka. To file an RTI, you will have to visit the RTI portal of Karnataka. The process is lengthy, but not that difficult. I will share all the steps you need to follow below.

Process to File an RTI Against Builders in Karnataka

  1. Go to the Karanatka RTI portal.

  2. Click on the Submit Request option, and you will see the guidelines for using the portal.

  3. Scroll down and tick the checkbox, stating you have read and understood the guidelines.

  4. Click the Submit button.

  5. You will see a form on the screen. Fill out all the regions marked with *, which are mandatory, while others are optional. Choose the appropriate option for the department related to the housing department.

  6. Once you fill out the first page, click the Make Payment option to pay the prescribed fee.

  7. Apply and you will receive a unique registration number. Save it for future reference.

This is all. I hope this helps.

This happened with my brother. A builder overcharged him for EDCs that are External Development Charges. If you don’t know what EDC is then let me tell you that an EDC is a cash that Builder takes out of your account and puts with the government. But my brother was defrauded since the builder took out extra cash for EDC without informing him. So he wanted to file an RTI against him but did now know

how to file RTI against the builder.

So, I started researching the process and found out that there are many builders who defraud innocent customers and buyers. Filing an RTI

reveals many accused cases of fraud in which a builder allegedly takes booking payments of crores of rupees from those looking to rent apartments by presenting forged and false documentation. So, I will tell you exactly how to file RTI against builder.

The procedure for submitting an RTI in the instance of RERA is straightforward, but there are several rules established by the RTI Act –

  • The RTI requester should be an Indian national.

  • Only the Ministries/Departments of the Indian Government may receive RTI requests.

What is the process to file RTI against builder?

Check out the website and make a request

A potential applicant

  must visit the website.

The petitioner will be brought to a page with "Guidelines for submitting an RTI online" after selecting the Submit Request button. I have read and understand the following guidelines. Please check this box, then click the SUBMIT button.

Complete the online RTI form

The applicant will now be directed to the page with the online RTI application form, where he or she must choose the department or ministry for which the petitioner wishes to submit an RTI.

In the real estate industry, a candidate must select the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The applicant has the option to request details about a number of government initiatives, such as RERA, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Smart Cities Mission, and other initiatives for development. Additionally, copies of government permissions such as the occupancy certificate and graduation certificate are available.

Include personal information

The candidate will now need to provide personal information such as their name, gender, address, phone number and email address. An SMS alert will be sent to the applicant after they provide their mobile number.

If an applicant belongs to the BPL category

The applicant must provide a supporting document if they fall under the BPL category (below the poverty line).

Note: Applicants in the BPL category are not required to pay the RTI fee.

Currently, an application's text cannot be longer than 3,000 characters; if it does, the applicant will need to send the necessary documentation as an attachment.

A distinctive registration number

When an application is submitted, a special registration number is issued that can be used to check on the progress of the application later.

Make Payment

The petitioner will be directed to the "Make Payment" page after completing the first page, where they must make a transaction for Rs 10 to cover the RTI charge.

The applicant may use online payment methods to make the required payment.

  1. Internet banking

  2. Credit or debit card

  3. The RuPay Card

The application may be filed once payment has been made.

I hope now you understand how to file RTI against builder.
