Hey there. I have a work desk in my room. I often work from home and the cables connected to my device create a lot of mess and movement restrictions. So, I decided to see how to drill a hole in a desk to make a path for the cables. I was able to make a clean hole with the usage of a hole saw. I have used a drill before, so it was simple for me.
How to Drill a Cable Hole in a Desk?
Here is the method you can follow to drill a hole in your desk:
This is a tip that’ll help before you begin. Buy the hole saw based on the hole size you’re looking to drill. You’ll find the saw in different diameters, so choose accordingly.
Also, buy the grommet, which is a round ring that goes on top of the hole of the same size as the hole saw.
Attach the hole saw to your drill.
Now, apply lots of pressure onto the desk and push the drill through the complete surface. The material from the inside of the hole will be stuck in the hole saw.
You can use a screwdriver and stick it into one of the holes on the side of the hole saw to pop the piece out.
You can then place the grommet over the hole to see if it fits, which it should.
The hole must’ve created a bit of a mess, depending on the material. Mine was a wooden desk, so I removed the grommet and primed it, followed by painting the area first.
