I know the thought of writing a Will and discussing it openly is not very comfortable as it involves thinking about the death of a person. However, it’s very important to write a Will, especially if you own multiple assets and have several family members. My father has recently prepared a Will, so I can tell you the Will draft India process:
How to Draft A Will IndiaYou should include these details in the Will:
Personal Details– You should write your name, father’s name, Date of Birth, residential address, etc.,
Declaring Date– You should also clearly specify the date of preparing the Will.
Validating Free Will –You should specify that you’re not forced by any person or under any influence to prepare this Will.
Mentioning Executor’s Details– The executor is someone who will execute/implement your Will. This is why, you should specify their name, age, address, your relationship with them, etc.,
Details of Assets and Beneficiaries– You should mention all immovable properties with complete addresses as well as the movable assets, such as insurance, bank deposits, units of mutual funds, etc. Don’t forget to specify the name of the beneficiaries for each asset.
Signature– After specifying the above details, you have to sign the Will.
Signature of Witnesses– You are required to get the Will attested by at least two witnesses. You should mention their addresses and their father’s names.
