The deity of education, Ma Saraswati is known to bring success in our lives. On the auspicious day of Saraswati Puja, we worship Ma Saraswati to help us flourish in education. Therefore, it is believed that families with children should worship Devi Saraswati so that she blesses her children with all her power. I have been doing Saraswati Puja at home and I have decorated my house every time during this occasion.

There are guidelines we should follow to worship Saraswati Devi. I start preparing for Saraswati Puja before the happy occasion starts. Cleaning the house is crucial before the Tithi. So this is the first step I take to decorate the house for Saraswati Puja.

An image or a sculpture of Saraswati Devi. ( I purchase a sculpture every year)
Flowers and Leaves: flowers such as Lotus, Palash, Marigold are a must for Saraswati Puja. For leaves, you can buy banana leaves, tulsi, bel leaves. You can purchase other flowers too as you will need flowers and leaves for Pushpanjali so I would suggest you purchase colourful flowers for this occasion.
For Yagna you will need ghee or oil.
Fruits such as apple, guava, banana, pomegranate, can be used for bhog. I like to cook foods such as puri and dum aloo. Along with this I like to add mithai such as Nadu, Rasgulla, and Sandesh. I decorate the plates and place them in front of Saraswati Devi.
Last but not least I never forget to decorate my house with Alpana or Rangoli. For this, I take rice flour and water. I make a mixture out of it and I draw Alpanas in the front of my house, stairs and puja room. On the stairs, I draw footprints of Saraswati Devi to invite her inside my home.
For the Saraswati Puja vidhi at home I always call my priest so that he can help me perform the rituals.
