I did my son’s room decor and I think I did a good job. He is just 7 years old right now so I had to keep thinking how to decorate kids room in simple way so that he would love it too. I decided to not go on a conventional path and include him in the process. I can share that experience with you, it may help you out.
How to decorate kids room?I divided this task in 3 major things - Painting, Furniture setup & storage and personalization.
Painting:My son loves green colour so we decided to paint the room walls in shades of green. I personally don’t like loud shades. So to add subtlety to it, I chose to go with lighter mint green shade. But we kept one wall in white shade only. I will come back to it later to explain the reasons.

Accordingly, I got a study table set and a single bed for him. I also believe that children and their mess need a lot of storage space. So, we have a dedicated almirah for clothes and a storage unit to keep all his toys. Apart from that we have a cupboard which has his books and stationery.
Personalization:This one is the most fun part. On the ideal wall, I made my son do hand printing. He played with wall paint all day long. We also hung some drawings he made and of course, there are family pictures too. He seemed pretty satisfied with his room.
