After my husband recently installed a dishwasher in our kitchen, we had the task of adding a waste pipe for it. I had never done something like this before and I had no idea how to connect dishwasher waste pipe. So I researched about it and found a lot of useful videos and was finally able to do it using T-fitting. Here are the detailed steps I followed which might help you out.

How to Connect Dishwasher Waste Pipe to Sink?

  • Firstly, I gathered up everything I found out I would need, which included PVC pipe, a T-fitting, a hose clamp, and a dishwasher waste pipe. Also, I made sure I always had plumber's tape, a screwdriver, and a wrench on hand with me while working.

  • After that, I found the existing drain line under my sink. To reach the drain, I switched off the water supply and took out the trap of the sink. Although, this might be a little bit messy, so you should always have a bucket ready to collect any water spills.

  • Then I fitted the T-fitting after getting access to the drain line. The waste of the dishwater would now be connected to the existing drain because of this fitting.

  • To attach the T-fitting to the dishwasher, I measured and cut the PVC pipe. I sealed the threads with plumber's tape after cutting to make sure it was tight.

  • Next, I used a hose clamp to secure the dishwasher waste pipe to the T-fitting. This step was important because it stops leaks when the dishwasher drains.

  • I replaced the washbasin trap and turned on the water supply after everything was connected.

I finally tested my work by running a quick cycle on the dishwasher. There were no leaks to be found. My dishwasher drained easily, and the waste pipe functioned nicely.

But, I will suggest you better hire a professional plumber as following these steps require a lot of effort. I hope you get an idea of how to fit a dishwasher waste pipe.
