I once wanted to clean my vinyl floor using bleach. However, my mom asked me not to use bleach. Since vinyl is a delicate material, it can eventually be damaged by harsh cleaners like ammonia or bleach. Using a vinegar-water mixture or a pH-neutral cleanser is ideal. However, if bleach is still your preference, and you want to know how to clean vinyl floors with bleach, it's important to dilute it.

Can I Clean Vinyl Floor with Bleach?

Usually cleaning vinyl floors with bleach is not recommended. It is ideal to use a pH-neutral cleanser. However, if you want to use bleach;

  1. Properly dilute: Combine 2½ cups of warm water with ¼ cup of bleach.

  2. Use a spray solution: To make the application simple, transfer the liquid into a sanitised spray bottle.

  3. Safe application involves simply misting the vinyl floor, wiping it off with a gentle cloth, and then rinsing it off with plain water.

  4. Avoid mixing chemicals: Bleach can create harmful gasses if it comes into contact with alcohol, vinegar, or ammonia.

  5. Ventilation: To prevent fume inhalation, always clean in a place with enough ventilation.

This method reduces the possibility of long-term damage while disinfecting your vinyl floors.

Hello. I saw your question, how to clean vinyl floors with bleach and well, you shouldn’t be using bleach. Blean is a harsh chemical which can cause discolouration over time or even cause damage to the flooring. This damage can be permanent if you use bleach often or for long durations. So, instead of bleach, I will share a method that I use for cleaning my vinyl floor.

Method to Clean Vinyl Flooring

  1. Make a mixture of white vinegar and warm water. This acts as an excellent cleaner.

  2. Make sure that you use vinegar in only an amount such that no odour remains after rinsing off the solution with clean water.

  3. You can dip a clean and soft cloth in this solution and wipe the flooring with the cloth.

  4. Then, rinse the floor thoroughly with clean water and finish by wiping with a clean and dry cloth.

Apart from white vinegar and water, you can also use baking soda, which works well in removing dirt and grime from vinyl. All you need to do is sprinkle some baking soda onto a damp cloth and scrub the flooring with the cloth. You can then rinse with clean water and wipe with a dry cloth to finish.

I hope you now have the answer to can I clean vinyl floor with bleach or not.
