Here are the steps that my AC technician informed me to perform the cleaning process:
To protect your safety, switch off the air conditioner and disconnect it from the power source.
Take the wind-free panel off the air conditioner by holding and pulling on both sides of it.
Raise the upper cover on the air conditioner.
After the filter is visible, carefully take it out and check it for any apparent debris or dirt.
Clean the panel's surface using a wet towel, lukewarm water, and a soft brush.
Rinse the panel under running water if it is heavily dusted.
To get rid of any dust or debris on the filter, use a vacuum cleaner.
If there is excessive dust on the filter, scrub it with a soft brush and rinse it with water.
Finally, before putting the AC back into the unit, let it dry in a good ventilation area.
