Last month, I noticed that the hinges of my cabinet were getting rusty. I planned to clean them, and hence, I researched online to learn how to clean rusty cabinet hinges. I found simple steps to use a screwdriver to remove the hinges from the doors and the cabinet frame. Then follow the rest of the steps I mentioned below to make the hinges look good as new.
How Do You Remove Rust from Cabinet Hinges?
Use a screwdriver to remove the hinges from the doors and the cabinet frame.
Then, take a bowl, fill it with warm water, and add washing liquid.
Soak the hinges for about 30 minutes, fully underwater.
After soaking, use an old toothbrush to scrub the hinges thoroughly
If there is any sticky dirt, make a small paste of baking soda and water, apply it, and scrub again.
Rinse the hinges well after cleaning.
Next, dry the hinges with a soft cloth.
If you see rust, gently rub it with sandpaper until it’s gone, and wipe clean.
To prevent rust in the future, apply a small amount of oil to the hinges.
Finally, reattach the hinges to the cabinet using a screwdriver.
After learning the steps, I realised it wasn’t a full DIY job, so I hired professional cleaners to do it. They followed the same steps carefully, and now my cabinet hinges are clean. I hope this helps you, too.
