Recently, I decided to clean the rust on AC evaporator coil, so I hired an AC technician to do it. During that time, I asked him about the cleaning process. He said, before beginning the cooling process, I should turn off the AC and wait for some time for it to cool down. He said that the cleaning process includes the use of a rust-removing spray.
How to Clean Rust in Air Conditioner?
Here is the step-by-step cleaning process that the AC technician followed;
First, he switched off the AC Unit
Then, he located the coils, which are typically located behind a cover or panel.
Next, he applied a rust-removing spray all over the coils. You just let it sit for a few minutes. He mainly used WD40.
Then, he said to use a soft brush to gently clean away the dust and dirt. He also used a vacuum with a brush head to suck everything up.
Once it is cleaned, he let everything dry completely before putting the cover back on.
Finally, he just turned the power back on and checked if the AC is working like it should.
This is the way you have to clean the rust coil. I hope this will help you.
