How to Clean P Trap in Sink?
Ensure the sink tap is turned off. You don’t need to turn off the complete water supply for this.
Place a bucket under the P-trap before you start to remove it.
Hold the connecting pipe of the P-trap to keep it in place and unscrew the nut holding the trap in position.
Do the same thing for the other side, and you will be able to remove the P-trap. If the P-trap hasn’t been removed for a long time and is too tight, you might need a wrench.
Carefully loosen the nuts of the pipe. Remember that water will start coming out, so ensure you are cautious.
Dump all the contents of the pipe into the bucket.
Pull out any visible dirt and dump it into the bucket. Grab your flexible wire brush, wet it and get started. Push the brush through the pipe to remove anything that may be stuck.
Place everything back together once you are satisfied with the cleanup.
Ensure you line up the pipe corecrly and screw the nuts back into place. The pipe’s long end goes in front and the short end goes on the back side.
Screw the nuts in place and avoid pushing too hard. But you may require the wrench to ensure everything is sealed.
Run the water for 15 to 20 seconds and check the trap. If no leakage is happening, then you are good.
