How Do You Clean Blinds Without Taking Them Down?
The first step is to gather a handheld vacuum, a microfiber cloth, and a gentle cleaner. Ideally a small handheld vacuum can be easy to use but we had the standard canister vacuum with a shoulder strap so my mother stated we can use that as well.
She added that the vacuum should have a HEPA filter as it helps trap fine dust found on surfaces like windowsills and blinds preventing it from being released back into the room. The steps that I follow to clean window blinds without removing it are as follows:
Close and Flatten Blinds: First I adjusted the blinds to lay them flat, with the wider part facing up to clean it easily.
Vacuum the Blinds: I started vacuuming at the top and at each slat horizontally. Then reversed the direction to vacuum the entire surface and edges.
Spot Clean: Then I used a damp microfibre cloth dipped it in soap solution to remove marks and dirt
My mother also said that for regular cleaning we can dip a clean sock in a 50/50 vinegar-water solution, wear it and swipe it over each slat for easy cleaning. So now if you don’t know how to clean blinds without taking them down the above steps might help.
