How to Check Earth Leakage?

Using a Test Light Bulb
Connect the wires of the lightbulb to the neutral (left) and live (right) holes, and it should glow brilliantly. The neutral wire should now be moved to the top, or earthing, hole.
Good earthing is when the light bulb glows brightly again; bad earthing is when it dims or doesn't glow.
Making Use of a Multimeter
Set the multimeter to AC. Put the black probe into neutral and the red probe into the live hole, then record the reading. If the reading matches, move the black probe to the earthing hole. Inadequate earthing is indicated by a lower or absent reading.
Electric shocks can be prevented by routinely inspecting the earthing. For safety, get advice from an electrician right once if testing reveals improper earthing.
