Going through this question reminded me of this year’s summer season, when I faced a similar issue. From my experience, I can say how to check air conditioner fuse? Your air conditioner can have a blown fuse if it stops operating all of a sudden. A common indicator is when the interior AC unit continues to run while the outdoor one stops working. Checking the fuse is a simple process that requires a voltmeter and basic safety precautions.

How to Check Fuse on AC Unit?

  1. To prevent electrical dangers, make sure the power is off before testing.

  2. The disconnect box is a gray box that is located close to your outside condenser unit.

  3. Lift or swing it open to expose the wiring, then take off the inside cover.

  4. Determine the wires. Find the 110 volt "line" (incoming) and "load" (outgoing) wires.

  5. Get your voltmeter set. Before testing, switch to voltage (V) mode and make sure the reading is "0."

  6. Connect the black lead to the white "line" lug and the red lead to the black "line" lug to test the voltage.

  7. Verify the readings. If voltage appears on “line” but not “load,” the fuse is blown.

This is the easiest way to check whether the AC fuse is blown or not.

Hey, I saw you asking how to check air conditioner fuse and would like to help. I noticed our Ac wasn’t working fine and I suspected a blown fuse. I had to be sure, so I opened the AC’s panel to get access to the fuses. I am familiar with ACs because of my degree in electrical engineering. I will tell you the process for both new and old AC units below.

How to Check AC Fuse?

Here are the steps you can follow to check your Ac’s fuse:

  1. Begin by turning odd the power supply.

  2. Go near the AC and remove the cover. Once you are in reach with the panel, look for the fuses located inside.

  3. Most of the ew AC units come with those compact cartridge or balde style fuses similar to those in cars. If you see that the fuse is clearly burned, shattered or has burn makrings on the plastic window, the fuse has blown up.

  4. If yours is an older AC unit, which have the class cylinder-shaped glass fuses, you will have to examine the fuses a bit further.

  5. Remove the fuses and check the internal metal strip. It it appears melted or seperated into several pieces with scorched ends, it indicates that the safety component gave up after protecting the unit.

For complicated examinations of the fuses, I recommend you call and AC technician as the process can be both tricky and dangerous. This is all I have to share with you. I hope you now know how to check fuse on AC unit.
