A few crucial procedures must be taken in order to change the family head name on a ration card in Delhi to ensure a seamless transfer. Follow the process as mentioned below:

• Visit

• Tap on Download Forms.

• Click on the Download button in front of the “Form to Modify Details in Ration Card” option.

• Download and take the printout of an official form for changing your name.

• The opportunity to modify details can be found here. The required information is listed on the second option on the last page.

• Choose the cause for modifying the HOF information.

• Fill out the form with accurate information, and be sure to attach all necessary supporting documentation.

• Cross-check all the details and submit them to your local ration card service centers.

Within a week or two after verification, you will receive your modified ration card. Following the above procedures, you can make head of the family change in ration card.

I live in Chennai and we lived with our grandfather who passed away recently. We had to take care of all the formalities and legal frameworks related to his will, documents which were in his name and more. • Go to the official website of Tamil Nadu Public Distribution Plan website at 

• Scroll down and on the right hand side you will see many options under Electronic Card Related services tab.

• Click on ‘To change the head of the family’ option

• You will be redirected to the login page. Here you can login using the registered mobile number and captcha code. You will receive an OTP to finally access your account.

• Now you will see that the details of all your family members will appear on the screen. Choose who you want to make the head of the family (remember, the government is providing Rs. 1000 to female heads of the family.

• After making that decision, check on the tick box against the name of the person who you want to make the head of the family

• Now upload the following documents:

1. Aadhaar Card

2. Death Certificate of previous head of the family or affidavit

3. Certificate of Revenue analyst to transfer name of the head of the family

4. A passport size photograph

• Next on how to change family head in ration card, submit the request and it will be sent for the verification process.

• If the information provided is correct, you will be notified about its approval and the name of the head of the family will be changed digitally on your ration card.
