After this, wash your cabinets down with sugar soap or a strong detergent solution. This will get rid of the grease. Wipe off any soap residue using a damp cloth.
After the cabinets have dried, sand with fine sandpaper. Fill imperfections with a high quality ready mixed filler and sand again.
Apply an appropriate primer depending on the surface that suits it. Use even, thin coats like 1 to 2 coats should be enough.
Apply two coats of your chosen colour. After the first coat is completely dry, sand with a fine paper to make sure the finish is smooth and professional. Make sure to wipe off any dust with a damp cloth.
When the second coat is fully dry, carefully remove the masking tape and put the knobs and handles back on.
