To replace the switch you need to remove the wires. For this, you need to insert a blade of the screwdriver into the hole where the wire is inserted and you need to lose the wire by pulling gently.
Before dealing with the wire you must learn that the white wire connecting with the silver screw is the neutral wire. The black one that goes to the copper screw is the hot wire. It is at times red in colour. The green one is the ground wire attached to the green screw terminal.
To replace a single switch check out the guide below:
Turn the power off at the main circuit breaker.
Unscrew and remove the plate. Turn on the voltage tester to become sure that there is no circuit.
Unscrew the switch and take it out of the wires.
Check the new switch and compare it with the old one. After comparing you will find the locations for the electrical screw connectors. Since the power is off you can attach the connectors easily.
After placing the wires in the right place, gently push the wired switch back into the electrical box and screw it properly.
Turn on the power to check the light is working properly.
Before rounding up I will suggest you hire an electrician to do the job if you have less idea about electrical works.
