Summary
To calculate wardrobe cost, first measure the wardrobe’s height and width and multiply them to get the total square footage. Next, choose your material and finish (e.g., laminate, acrylic, veneer, PU, glass) and find the price per sq. ft for that finish. Multiply this rate by the total area, then add costs for accessories, hardware, and labour to arrive at the final wardrobe cost.

Here’s how to calculate wardrobe cost,

  1. Start by measuring the height and width of the wardrobe area in feet. Multiply the height and width to get the total square footage. Example: Height = 7 ft, Width = 6 ft. Total area = 7 × 6 = 42 sq. ft. This square footage is the base used to calculate wardrobe pricing.

  2. Choose the Material: The material you select affects the price significantly. The usual price ranges: Basic laminate wardrobe: Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 1,800 per sq. ft., Mid range plywood wardrobe: Rs. 1,800 to Rs. 3,000 per sq. ft., and premium finishes or acrylic wardrobes: Rs. 3,000+ per sq. ft.

  3. Multiply Area by Price per Sq. Ft.: Once you know the material price, multiply it by the total area. Example: 42 sq. ft. × Rs. 1,800 = Rs. 75,600. This gives the base wardrobe cost.

  4. Add Internal Accessories: Wardrobe accessories increase the total cost. Common additions include: drawers, shoe racks, hanging rods, sliding mechanisms, mirrors or glass shutters. These can add Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 30,000 depending on the design.

  5. Include Installation and Hardware: Finally, include hinges, handles, channels, labour, and installation costs, which may add 10 to 20% to the total price.

By following these steps, you can estimate the total wardrobe cost based on size, material, and customisation level before starting your interior project.

How to Calculate Cost of Wardrobe?

  3. To find the total square footage, multiply the height by the breadth.

  4. Choose the material finish for your wardrobe and check out its square footage cost.

  5. Laminate: Starts around Rs. 1200 per square foot.

  6.  Acrylic Sheet: Rs. 1300 per square foot.

  7. Veneer with Melamine: Rs. 1350 per square foot, on average.

  8. Polyurethane (PU): Around Rs. 1400 per square foot.
