How to calculate grid ceiling material?
Since my father was very curious and loved the new ceilings in his office, he tried to understand how to measure false ceilings and tried to get an idea of the cost. He said that to know the cost, at first
Calculate the surface area of the ceiling in sq ft
Multiply the sq ft surface area by unit price per sq ft
Then calculate the cove length in rft(running foot)
Multiply the calculated cove length by unit price per rft
Add the cost of finishing as per the design
The total is going to be the money required to complete it
Also know that grid false ceiling materials’ cost vary from place to place so it will not be the same for everyone.
Example of calculation
Suppose you want grid ceiling for a room measuring 12’ * 16’ with gypsum board
Rs 90/ sq ft for ceiling with material and installation
2 rate/running feet for ceiling board = Rs 50/rft along with material and installation
rate/ each round ceiling light =Rs 150
Area = 12’ * 16’ = 192 sq ft
Peripheral length “L” = (L+B)*2 (12’+16’)*2 = 56 feet
Cost amount for ceilingArea of ceiling*(rate/sqft) for ceiling = 192*90 = Rs17280
Cost of amount for ceiling borderLength of ceiling border*rate/running feet = 56*50 = Rs 2800
Cost of ceiling lightsRate of light fixing * number of lights = 150 * 20 =Rs 3000
Total Cost= 17280+2800+3000= Rs 23080
