Recently, I bought a new house and in the bedroom, there was a small closet which didn’t have shelves in it. So, I planned to take it up as a DIY project and add some shelves to the closet. Since I didn’t know how to add shelves to a closet, I started searching for how to do it. I learned that to add shelves to a closet; you need to measure the closet first and plan how many shelves you want to add.
How Do I Add Shelves to My Closet?
After the planning process, you need to purchase a board and start cutting the board according to the measurements that you have taken. You can use a table saw or circular saw to cut the board. Here are the rest of the steps that you need to follow.
First, cut all the standalone shelves. The length and width of these shelves should be a little smaller than the size of the closet.
After that, build the support shelves. These shelves should be around 2 inches in height and would go on the walls of the closet.
Use a pencil to mark the area where you want to place the shelves.
Attach the support shelves to the wall of the closet using 3-inch long screws.
After that, stain the shelves using water-based stain and leave it dry.
When the shelves have completely dried, install them.
After going through the process, I understood I can’t do it on my own. So, I finally hired a carpenter for that. And that is how you can add shelves to a wardrobe. I hope this helps.
