Typically, IMPS can be carried out 24x7. Some banks impose a time restriction on adding beneficiaries for transferring funds through IMPS and some have time restrictions when it comes to adding a new beneficiary for making a new funds transfer.

For instance, the State Bank of India only lets you add a new beneficiary from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. If you add a new beneficiary after 8:00 PM, it’ll be available for IMPS money transfer only after 6:00 AM the next day. That’s why I suggest you check with your bank about the timings for the IMPS transfer.

What Happens if an IMPS Transaction Fails?
