How much space is needed for a residential elevator ?
To install a residential elevator, you need a minimum of 20 to 25 square feet. This space does not include the area needed for the installation or construction of a maintenance room. The most common dimensions for the lift are 40” x 54” or 36” x 60”. The doorway of the elevator needs to be at least 32 inches wide according to the building code.
Standard residential elevator dimensions in metres are 3' wide by 4' deep or 0.91 x 1.22 m in dimension. The width is 36 inches or 0.91 m. You will need to get a pit dug in the ground beneath the elevator. I think 8 inches of pit space is perfect for a residential elevator. If you don't want to get a pit dug then opt for a pneumatic vacuum elevator as it is “pit-less” by design.
The size of the elevator you choose can vary yet you should make sure the elevator has been properly installed. It needed to be installed according to the safety protocols set. You should make sure, the maximum number of people in the lift doesn't cross the allotted weight.
I hope my answer on residential elevator dimensions will help you choose the best lift for your property.
