Hi Milon. Like Ms. Debjani said, how many steps should be there in pooja room only has one rule, that the number is odd. You can choose n number of steps, as long as they count odd in the fashion of 9, 11, 13, 15, etc. Let me also tell you more about the pooja room vastu, like the placement of idols and the colour of the room.

Correct Placement of Idols in a Pooja Room

  1. Have the idols in the northeast direction of the room.

  2. Remember not to have the idols face each other and neither should they be close to the wall.

  3. Don’t have the idols facing the door and neither should they be resting on the walls. All the idols must face in one direction, only.

Pooja Room Colour

  1. Choose light colours as they radiate positivity and are best suited for worshipping and praying.

  2. If your pooja room is in the northeast direction, white is the best colour to paint the walls.

This is all from my end. I hope this helps you.

It is good that people are interested in knowing how many steps in pooja room should be there. Before constructing our house, my mother advised me to construct an odd number of stairs. Vastu states that an odd number of stairs must be constructed within the house. So to answer the question of how many steps should be there in pooja room, I would say go for numbers like 15, 17, 19, or 21. There are other Vastu norms for a pooja room as well, so let me share them as well-.

In which direction should your build the pooja room?

The preferred direction of the pooja room is northeast. Other directions that you can opt for are east and north.

What should be the pooja room design?

A pooja room should have a low ceiling, as per the rules of Vastu. It will be great if you go for a pyramid-shaped or gopura-like top and help create a positive atmosphere.

What items should be used to decorate a pooja room?

Try to use metallic accessories, especially brass, to decorate your puja room as per Vastu. We have kept a copper vessel filled with water in our pooja room as per the guidance of our Panditji, so I will suggest you do the same.
