I have opted for insurance a couple of times. So, when it comes to moving insurance, these are not sold directly by the company, but they are meant to be provided through a source. The insurance coverage depends on your inventory. Let me describe more below.

What Does Movers Insurance Cover?

Continuing from above, the insurance coverage is determined on the basis of the value and weight of the items. The calculation method depends on the type of moving insurance provided by the packer and mover company.

• There is released value protection moving insurance, which only offers coverage over the weight of the damaged item. I don’t recommend opting for such insurance. This is because your appliance like a TV can cost a lot, but its weight is quite less, which would hardly cover the loss.

• Second is the full value protection where you get the complete coverage for each item based on its individual cost. This is a better option.

• Lastly, there is third-party insurance where the customer decides to avail of insurance from someone else rather than the one offered by the company. Through this, you have better control over the terms and conditions. 

There are certain conditions that are considered as damage for the item to be eligible for insurance coverage. So, do go through the policy well before agreeing and signing it.

Assuming a portion of your furniture or other items break or are lost during the move, then the moving insurance will come into the picture. You will now make an insurance claim to that moving firm, and you will receive payment for that item.

The two most popular moving insurance types are as follows:
