There was serious chaos a few months back in our area regarding the construction of a building in close proximity to the highway. People gathered around and demanded the project be annulled. As per the Land Control Rules, 1964, the construction of a building should not be allowed from the centre line of any road on National and Provincial Highways in open and agricultural areas- 75 feet and 60 feet in urban and industrial areas respectively. The construction of buildings within 40 m from the central line of any Highway will be considered illegal and hence can be demolished anytime.
